At The Secret Garden of Dance, we believe there’s a better way to teach. Where a student is offered insightful and constructive feedback and their lessons are always personalised. We’re obsessively passionate about it, and our mission is to help our students achieve their goals.
Don’t worry – we’re not only drill sergeants, we do love to make our classes fun and light-hearted and we have a wonderful social community that’s inviting and friendly.

COMPLIMENTARY LESSON
The first step is to book in a complimentary and obligation-free consultation. You’ll be looked after by one of our highly trained and friendly teachers, who will inform you of all the additional services we have to offer.
Each couple is different, so it’s important for us to discuss your specific ideas in detail and learn about what you’re both hoping to achieve. This will help us determine which style of dance and choreography will best suit you.
During this free one hour dance lesson, we’ll also teach you some basic steps to your choice of song, which will help you get a sense of what your dance could look and feel like.
Finally to finish your consultation, we can give you feedback and advice with regards to pricing, packages, how many lessons you may require and to make a booking if you wish.

From start to finish working with Caroline was a dream, she was super patient and took time to break down everything for us and pull together a routine that was suitable for our song and style. September 18, 2023Love this dance studio, I went here for Tahitian dance class (which by the way is awesome and our instructor is lovely 😍). Studio is tucked away near a carpark in Camberwell up some stairs it's not the most glamours studio but it's inviting and has character. The people were really inviting.

Over 2 months, Caroline took us from complete beginners to confident, enthusiastic performers for our first dance on our wedding night. We couldn’t have asked for a more patient, committed teacher. From the very first meeting, where Caroline took the time to get to know us and our somewhat alternative vision for our dance, to developing an awesome choreography that blew our friends and family away, the wedding dance was a clear highlight and an unforgettable element of the whole day. We are SO glad we decided to take lessons, and put in the hours of practice, and we are grateful for the contributions of the whole team, who took the time to watch us rehearse and share their tips to elevate our performance. We were quite nervous to perform a first dance at our wedding but Caroline and Sanushka taught us so much and we felt very connected to their philosophy and honesty with us. We learnt so much and loved going to our lessons as well as the group classes. March 20, 2024I found out about Secret Garden of Dance through word of mouth and I'm so glad I found out about them! We had them teach us our first dance and it turned out incredible. Caroline was amazing throughout the whole process. Both my partner and I had no dancing experience so we were dreading to learn out first dance. Caroline helped us feel comfortable and was so encouraging and motivating. Her experience and passion really shows when she is teaching. Dancing quickly became one of the most enjoyable parts of the wedding process for us and we thoroughly enjoyed every lesson. We were so amazed that we pulled off our first dance in only a few lessons, coming from people who had no dancing experience. March 20, 2021We first found out about The Secret Garden of Dance through my sister who had registered us for a trial class ahead of our wedding. My husband and I both enjoy dancing socially, but had not had previous experience with learning a choreographed routine. Caroline made us feel welcome and took the time out to get to know us as a couple and thoughtfully crafted a routine for us which we will think back on fondly for years to come. Caroline was patient, professional, articulate and very concise with how she taught us. Instead of rushing into learning the full choreography, she iterated the importance of nailing the basics first and spent time with us till we got it right. Going to classes every week for the 6 weeks in the lead up to our wedding, was something we both eagerly anticipated, and helped us not only learn a new skill, but helped us grow closer together as a couple. From our first lesson with Sanu, his experience and passion for dance and teaching were evident. We were always comfortable and every lesson was enjoyable. FAQS
We recommend you wear active wear, casual attire and avoid clothes that are too tight or restricting. Some students come straight from work and others are in shorts and t-shirt. We also have bathrooms where you can get changed.
Recommended: Sneakers, trainers, walking shoes, flats, low heels with ankle support, Ballet flats, Ballroom and Latin dance shoes
Please avoid: Stiletto heels, heels with no ankle support, heavy boots, shoes with thick rubber soles, sandals/thongs/jandals/slip ons/flip flops!
Short answer: 1 hour
Our classes are typically 1 hour in duration, whether it’s a private or group class. We may start or end the class 5 minutes earlier to complete payments, make another booking or answer any questions.
