At The Secret Garden of Dance, we believe there’s a better way to teach. Where a student is offered insightful and constructive feedback and their lessons are always personalised. We’re obsessively passionate about it, and our mission is to help our students achieve their goals.
Don’t worry – we’re not only drill sergeants, we do love to make our classes fun and light-hearted and we have a wonderful social community that’s inviting and friendly.

COMPLIMENTARY LESSON
The first step is to book in a complimentary and obligation-free consultation. You’ll be looked after by one of our highly trained and friendly teachers, who will inform you of all the additional services we have to offer.
Each couple is different, so it’s important for us to discuss your specific ideas in detail and learn about what you’re both hoping to achieve. This will help us determine which style of dance and choreography will best suit you.
During this free one hour dance lesson, we’ll also teach you some basic steps to your choice of song, which will help you get a sense of what your dance could look and feel like.
Finally to finish your consultation, we can give you feedback and advice with regards to pricing, packages, how many lessons you may require and to make a booking if you wish.

April 11, 2021Sanushka is the real master teacher !! I have been dancing pretty much whole my life but I've never met a dance teacher like him . He doesn't teach just steps, moves, techniques and choreography etc to make us a dancing machines. He also teaches us more about the culture behind the dance and music for the dance which make the dancing more enjoyable and fun also make us a real dancers. I think how he teaches is very unique and his knowledge is just incredible you can't expect anything like that from a usual dance teacher. That made me and my partner decided to move to Melbourne from Cairns to learn from him. That is huge!! Because I believe Sanushka is the one can take me to the next level as a dancer how I wanna be !! 😃

April 2, 2023My husband and I learned our first dance for our wedding at The Secret Garden of Dance. We left it quite late to start (we took our first lesson 2 weeks before the big day) and still Sanu managed to teach us a waltz (including a lunge, Cuban walk, zig zag and dip). He really cared about us and explained both the moves and enough of the history and philosophy for us to understand the dance. The big day turned out great and the crowd was impressed (particularly since I hadn’t previously been much of a dancer!). We highly recommend Sanu and The Secret Garden of Dance to anyone looking to learn to dance for a wedding or anything else.

February 20, 2022We can't thank Steph enough for making our dance lessons such a memorable and fun experience! We were a bit late in sending this review (serious procrastinators here), but we had to let everyone know how amazing our time was. The dance lessons were definitely one of the best highlights of our wedding prep. The dance turned out fantastic on the big day! The whole thing was a hit—we loved it, and so did our guests! Steph made us feel so comfortable, even though we were total beginners. We had such a blast learning with Steph, and we'll always remember the laughs and great banter. It felt more like hanging out with a friend than a teacher! Highly recommend Steph for anyone looking to learn or have fun with dance. Thank you for everything!

Sanushka from The Secret Garden of Dance has a tireless, unwavering love, commitment and passion for what he does. A brilliant dancer, and a master of teachers. He possesses a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the art of dance. I’ve witnessed him transform students with no prior dance experience within minimal time, to coaching high end professional dancers seeking new heights with their dancing. This dance studio is none like any other here in Melbourne. With highly trained skilled staff, I find that I am challenged each week after every session. Thanks Sanu for sharing your time generously in our coaching sessions and in every class I’ve attended. FAQS
We recommend you wear active wear, casual attire and avoid clothes that are too tight or restricting. Some students come straight from work and others are in shorts and t-shirt. We also have bathrooms where you can get changed.
Recommended: Sneakers, trainers, walking shoes, flats, low heels with ankle support, Ballet flats, Ballroom and Latin dance shoes
Please avoid: Stiletto heels, heels with no ankle support, heavy boots, shoes with thick rubber soles, sandals/thongs/jandals/slip ons/flip flops!
Short answer: 1 hour
Our classes are typically 1 hour in duration, whether it’s a private or group class. We may start or end the class 5 minutes earlier to complete payments, make another booking or answer any questions.
