We first found out about The Secret Garden of Dance through my sister who had registered us for a trial class ahead of our wedding. My husband and I both enjoy dancing socially, but had not had previous experience with learning a choreographed routine. Caroline made us feel welcome and took the time out to get to know us as a couple and thoughtfully crafted a routine for us which we will think back on fondly for years to come. Caroline was patient, professional, articulate and very concise with how she taught us. Instead of rushing into learning the full choreography, she iterated the importance of nailing the basics first and spent time with us till we got it right. Going to classes every week for the 6 weeks in the lead up to our wedding, was something we both eagerly anticipated, and helped us not only learn a new skill, but helped us grow closer together as a couple. Everyone loved our first dance and were totally taken by surprise by our moves! Thank you Caroline - you helped make our wedding feel extra special and unforgettable for us xxx

May 14, 2021I'm a huge fan of social partnered dance. I've attended many dance schools over the years but this is the one school that I have intentionally travelled interstate visiting to improve the knowledge, connection and joy in my dance. More recently. with the outbreak of COVID, I have been able to take my lessons online and my achievements with them have exceeded my goals. The unique aspect of this school is that they tailor their approach to suit your individual learning style. I'm also a huge fan of the wedding dances that this school co-creates and enjoy seeing the success and joy online whenever they are published on social media.

March 19, 2021My Fiance and I had absolute no clue about dancing. Aiming at performing a dance for our wedding , Sanushka lead us step by step. He managed to bring out the beat in us we never even knew existed. December 18, 2024I am loving my dance classes at Secret Garden of Dance. So glad I stumbled across your dance studio 18 months ago. Sanushka’s philosophy and unique teaching methods are fantastic. So nurturing and patient for those of us that take a bit longer to get it, so informative and interesting on background of dances, such great staff Caroline & Simon helping instruct and making everyone feel welcome (though I did start off with Peter when you were away who was great). I love the community feel of all that come to classes at the studio and feel like I belong. Classes are such a great workout and I hate when I need to miss a class. If you’re wondering whether you should come here for your wedding dance (or any other dance needs you have) JUST DO IT! Caroline helped me and my partner learn an amazing salsa for our wedding dance, and we managed to look pretty damn good for two people that couldn’t dance walking in there. We also had SO much fun and got along so well with Caroline, she’s a fabulous teacher and person! JUST DO IT!

November 11, 2024My fiance and I had dance lessons with Sanushka, the owner of the studio. He was a wonderful teacher who taught us a lot, and took into account our capabilities when he choreographed our First Dance for our wedding. We had an amazing time learning our dance, and our lessons became a highlight of our week. Sanushka challenged us and helped us achieve a performance that we couldn't have imagined prior. Our friends and family were left gobsmacked, and my wife and I were so thrilled and proud of ourselves and what we achieved. It is still a talking point. We would highly recommend The Secret Garden of Dance.

January 4, 2025This studio is the hidden gem of dance in Melbourne! I was so impressed by Sanushka's style and methods of teaching from a workshop I attended in Cairns that I specifically moved to Melbourne to learn from him and his studio. He teaches you so much more than just steps; he teaches you about the music, how to understand it and really breaks things down in a way that I have never seen from any other teacher. Not only this, Sanu has taught me how to learn effectively. I am now travelling in Europe and am able to apply so much of what he has taught me to really step up my game when learning from other teachers and studios. Caroline is the co-director along side Sanu who is a phenomenal dancer and teacher who has learnt from the best. Her precision and technique is so impressive and she also breaks things down in a way that helps you learn really efficiently. I honestly owe so much to these magnificent teachers for the amount of joy they have passed onto me through dance and music. Whether you're a complete beginner or advanced in any style of dance...get in touch! Sanu, Caroline and the team are so welcoming and approachable that you will feel comfortable to ask any questions or doubts that you may have. When I return this will be my first stop 🙂

We recommend you wear active wear, casual attire and avoid clothes that are too tight or restricting. Some students come straight from work and others are in shorts and t-shirt. We also have bathrooms where you can get changed.
Recommended: Sneakers, trainers, walking shoes, flats, low heels with ankle support, Ballet flats, Ballroom and Latin dance shoes
Please avoid: Stiletto heels, heels with no ankle support, heavy boots, shoes with thick rubber soles, sandals/thongs/jandals/slip ons/flip flops!
Short answer: 1 hour
Our classes are typically 1 hour in duration, whether it’s a private or group class. We may start or end the class 5 minutes earlier to complete payments, make another booking or answer any questions.
