At The Secret Garden of Dance, we believe there’s a better way to teach. Where a student is offered insightful and constructive feedback and their lessons are always personalised. We’re obsessively passionate about it, and our mission is to help our students achieve their goals.
Don’t worry – we’re not only drill sergeants, we do love to make our classes fun and light-hearted and we have a wonderful social community that’s inviting and friendly.

COMPLIMENTARY LESSON
The first step is to book in a complimentary and obligation-free consultation. You’ll be looked after by one of our highly trained and friendly teachers, who will inform you of all the additional services we have to offer.
Each couple is different, so it’s important for us to discuss your specific ideas in detail and learn about what you’re both hoping to achieve. This will help us determine which style of dance and choreography will best suit you.
During this free one hour dance lesson, we’ll also teach you some basic steps to your choice of song, which will help you get a sense of what your dance could look and feel like.
Finally to finish your consultation, we can give you feedback and advice with regards to pricing, packages, how many lessons you may require and to make a booking if you wish.

He was a wonderful teacher who taught us a lot, and took into account our capabilities when he choreographed our First Dance for our wedding. We had an amazing time learning our dance, and our lessons became a highlight of our week. Sanushka challenged us and helped us achieve a performance that we couldn't have imagined prior. Our friends and family were left gobsmacked, and my wife and I were so thrilled and proud of ourselves and what we achieved. It is still a talking point. My wife and I have been students here for several years and also decided to ask Sanu to prepare a choreography for our wedding dance. The wedding dance went beyond our expectations and it is a moment we will never forget! Sanu and Caroline have an outstanding attention to details and their teaching style is impeccable: logical, clear, passionate. All the teachers at The Secret Garden are very professional but at the same time the classes are fun and energetic. I highly recommend trying their Cuban salsa class, you won’t be disappointed!

June 18, 2022Love this dance studio, I went here for Tahitian dance class (which by the way is awesome and our instructor is lovely 😍). Studio is tucked away near a carpark in Camberwell up some stairs it's not the most glamours studio but it's inviting and has character. The people were really inviting.

All three teachers were very nice and did a good job at choreographing and teaching us our wedding dance in four lessons. Sanushka was great at challenging us to do an easier version of the lift after we couldn't do the first version. Very happy with their services.

November 1, 2019We first found out about The Secret Garden of Dance through my sister who had registered us for a trial class ahead of our wedding. My husband and I both enjoy dancing socially, but had not had previous experience with learning a choreographed routine. Caroline made us feel welcome and took the time out to get to know us as a couple and thoughtfully crafted a routine for us which we will think back on fondly for years to come. Caroline was patient, professional, articulate and very concise with how she taught us. Instead of rushing into learning the full choreography, she iterated the importance of nailing the basics first and spent time with us till we got it right. Going to classes every week for the 6 weeks in the lead up to our wedding, was something we both eagerly anticipated, and helped us not only learn a new skill, but helped us grow closer together as a couple. Everyone loved our first dance and were totally taken by surprise by our moves! Thank you Caroline - you helped make our wedding feel extra special and unforgettable for us xxx

I've attended many dance schools over the years but this is the one school that I have intentionally travelled interstate visiting to improve the knowledge, connection and joy in my dance. More recently. with the outbreak of COVID, I have been able to take my lessons online and my achievements with them have exceeded my goals. The unique aspect of this school is that they tailor their approach to suit your individual learning style. I'm also a huge fan of the wedding dances that this school co-creates and enjoy seeing the success and joy online whenever they are published on social media.

March 19, 2021We can't thank Steph enough for making our dance lessons such a memorable and fun experience! We were a bit late in sending this review (serious procrastinators here), but we had to let everyone know how amazing our time was. The dance lessons were definitely one of the best highlights of our wedding prep. The dance turned out fantastic on the big day! The whole thing was a hit—we loved it, and so did our guests! Steph made us feel so comfortable, even though we were total beginners. We had such a blast learning with Steph, and we'll always remember the laughs and great banter. It felt more like hanging out with a friend than a teacher! Highly recommend Steph for anyone looking to learn or have fun with dance. Thank you for everything!

FAQS
We recommend you wear active wear, casual attire and avoid clothes that are too tight or restricting. Some students come straight from work and others are in shorts and t-shirt. We also have bathrooms where you can get changed.
Recommended: Sneakers, trainers, walking shoes, flats, low heels with ankle support, Ballet flats, Ballroom and Latin dance shoes
Please avoid: Stiletto heels, heels with no ankle support, heavy boots, shoes with thick rubber soles, sandals/thongs/jandals/slip ons/flip flops!
Short answer: 1 hour
Our classes are typically 1 hour in duration, whether it’s a private or group class. We may start or end the class 5 minutes earlier to complete payments, make another booking or answer any questions.
